The bulletin will provide regular updates for the preparation of IUCN’s participation at the 11th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP11).

The road to COP11
CBD COP11 will be held in Hyderabad, India, from 8 – 19 October 2012. COP 11 will include a high-level
ministerial segment, from 17 – 19 October, organized by the host country in collaboration with the
Secretariat of the Convention.
It will be the first time since 2002 that India is hosting a meeting of a Conference of Parties to a
multilateral environmental agreement. COP11 is highly anticipated since it is the first meeting of the
Parties in the UN Decade for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and the first since the adoption of the Strategic Plan
for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and its twenty Aichi Targets. COP11 thus presents a good opportunity to take
stock of progress made since the Nagoya COP in 2010.
