Guatemala lanza la Estrategia Nacional de Restauración del Paisaje Forestal: un mecanismo para el desarrollo rural

Guatemala de la Asunción, 14 de mayo del 2014. La Mesa de Restauración del Paisaje Forestal, con apoyo de la Unión Internacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (UICN) lanzó la “Estrategia Nacional de Restauración del Paisaje Forestal (ENRPF): Mecanismo para el desarrollo sostenible de Guatemala, 2015-2045” (ERPF), cuyo objetivo es restaurar en forma sostenible 1.2 millones de hectáreas de tierras degradadas para el año 2045, articulando actores e instrumentos por medio de la construcción de capacidades. La Mesa de Restauración del Paisaje Forestal es una instancia de carácter intersectorial que está integrada por más de 30 organizaciones de Guatemala e instituciones gubernamentales. …

La UICN recomienda actuar en favor del Patrimonio Mundial natural en peligro

La UICN, Unión Internacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza, publica hoy, con anterioridad a la reunión del Comité del Patrimonio Mundial que tendrá lugar el 28 de junio al 8 de julio en Bonn (Alemania), una serie de recomendaciones clave sobre sitios naturales del Patrimonio Mundial nuevos y amenazados. La UICN recomienda retirar Los Katios de Colombia de la Lista en Peligro. También recomienda inscribir un nuevo sitio de Jamaica e incorporar extensiones considerables en dos sitios inscritos de Viet Nam y Sudáfrica. Towards coastal resilience: Addressing climate change impacts in Ben Tre Province

Mangroves and Climate Change (MCC), a program under Mangroves for the Future (MFF), is focused on building resilience to climate change, decreasing vulnerability to disasters, and improving livelihoods. IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature, has coordinated the program in Vietnam since 2013, with the financial support of Danida, Sida and Norad. Within the framework of MFF, a Small Grant Facility (SGF) has been established to support coastal provinces in Viet Nam to develop coastal resilience models addressing climate change impacts. The purpose of these pilot projects is to protect coastal ecosystems, most notably through the sustainable use and management of mangroves. …
