Créé à l’issue du processus de régionalisation et de décentralisation engagé par le Secrétariat de l’UICN en 2006, le Programme pour l’Afrique Centrale et Occidentale (PACO) est né de la fusion des programmes Afrique Centrale et Afrique de l’Ouest. Son unité de coordination (le bureau régional) est basée à Ouagadougou au Burkina Faso.
