75th Meeting of IUCN Council

The 75th meeting of the IUCN Council will get underway in Gland, Switzerland on 18 November 2010.
Under the chairmanship of IUCN President Ashok Khosla, Council discussions will focus on the 2011 work plan and budget, private sector engagement and visioning about the IUCN Council, Members and Commissions of the future.
In follow up to the September/October 2010 consultation with IUCN Members, National and Regional Committees and Commissions on a series of governance issues, (the ‘One Programme Commitment Statement’, the Reform of the Motions Process, and including Local and Regional Government Authorities in the structure of the Union), Council will work to draw up proposals for consideration at the 2012 World Conservation Congress. A summary of the results of the consultation will be circulated to Members following the meeting.
IUCN’s Director General and the Chairs of the six Commissions will also deliver their reports to Council, and 36 applications for membership of the Union will be considered.
IUCN Members can access the draft agenda on the new Members’ Portal and provide feedback by 30 October to the Director General via firstname.lastname@example.org The Members’ Portal also contains the decisions and overview of the 74th Meeting, held from 2-4 June 2010.
In addition, Members can request digital copies (pdf format) of background analysis and documents prepared for past meetings of Council from email@example.com including the 74th Council summary minutes.
