IUCN China warmly welcomes two new members in 2011:
Civic Exchange is an independent Hong Kong-based public policy think tank that was established in September 2000. It is a company with limited liability and a registered charity in Hong Kong. Its mission is to: (1) Promote civic education amongst members of the community and for such purpose to conduct research and publicise the results so as to provide objective and balanced information to the public concerning economic, social and environmental issues; and (2) Undertake research on development of economic, social and political policies and practices to help shape the breadth and depth of public policy debate and so to provide well-founded and reasoned argument on the issues identified above.
Mt. Huangshan Scenic Area Administrative Committee (HSAC) is an environmental organization that carries out comprehensive management of the Huangshan scenic area in Southern China's Anhui province. This organization aims to minimize the environmental impact, maximize economic and social benefits, and optimize the tour experiences of the Mt. Huangshan Scenic area. Since 2007, the HSAC has implemented the Master Plan of Mt. Huangshan area and they have created the “National Low-Carbon Tourism Demonstration Zone”. The HSAC has joined the Global Sustainable Tourism Council as Asia's first scenic area and implemented Global sustainable tourism criteria. The HSAC has cooperated with the Global Environment Facility to reseach biodiversity conservation in the municipality. This organization has collaberated with the local police to establish fire prevention methods. As a result of their many acomplishment and iniatives, they acheived “a pronouncement of Retrospective Outstanding Universal Values of Mt. Huanghsna World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
