Pranburi activity 5: Solid waste management

The project is implemented at six locations along the Pranburi River, Pranburi
District, Prachubkirikan province (Southern Thailand).

Institutional framework

The project is implemented by the solid waste management group of Pranburi, led by Mr. Pairin Chouwanapunja and supervised by the IUCN project management committees. The IUCN Thailand Programme representatives coordinate the project.

The IUCN project management committee consist of:

  • Mr.Patara Intarapirot, the Sirinard mangrove forest centre’s committee advisor and former head of the Pranburi Forest Park
  • Mr.Prathan Sangworn, the Sirinard mangrove forest centre’s committee chairman and head of the Pranburi Forest Park
  • Mrs. Srisurang Mashsirikul, PTT representative
  • Ms.Srichan Monrakklarom, SiX-SENSES Resort & Spa representative
  • Ms. Radda Larpnun, IUCN representative

Objectives

  • Reduce solid waste from communities along the Pranburi river
  • Study and document the source and type of solid waste
  • Support participatory waste management of local communities and other stakeholders
  • Raise awareness about self waste management amid school children and communities

Expected outputs

  • Solid waste of targeted communities has been reduced
  • A knowledge product on participatory solid waste management has been developed
  • Pak Nam Pran Communities have increased their awareness about self waste management
