IUCN NL appoints new chairman and new executive director

The board of IUCN NL, the Dutch committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, has appointed Nanno Kleiterp as its chairman and Maas Goote as its executive director.
“These new leaders will strengthen IUCN NL’s efforts to value and conserve nature worldwide. Moreover, they will contribute to IUCN NL’s striving towards a green and sustainable economy and help strengthen our green development projects”, says interim chairman Hendrik Jan Laseur.
Nanno Kleiterp is Chief Executive Officer of the Dutch Development Bank FMO (Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij voor Ontwikkelingslanden). He also serves as a chairman of EDFI, the Association of European Development Finance Institutions.
Maas Goote is the former lead negotiator for the European Union at the UN climate talks and has significant experience in developing international environmental treaties. Currently, he is responsible for the Dutch environmental policies at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment. Maas Goote will join IUCN NL on June 1st. Interim director Michiel de Wilde will remain in office until August 1st in order to secure a smooth transition.
