The Antelope Specialist Group has made the 30 years-old archive of Gnusletter, the ASG Newsletter, available online!
Gnusletter is the bi-annual journal of the IUCN/SSC Antelope Specialist Group (ASG). Since the historical publication of the first issue of Gnusletter in January 1982 - nearly 30 years ago! – sixty five other issues of Gnusletter have provided a lot of information on issues that concern the management and conservation of antelopes both in the wild and in captivity.
Richard Estes pioneered Gnusletter, as Chair of ASG and Gnusletter editor for more than 27 years. His dedication to antelope conservation and incredible accomplishment cannot be justified in a single paragraph. Nevertheless, Dick has made this periodical the credible document we know today. We also acknowledge the huge contribution of Runi Estes, Dick’s wife who has assisted with edition and publication of Gnusletter from its inception up to 2006.
Thank you to Dick and Runi for your untiring efforts for Gnusletter and antelope conservation. Steve Shurter has been the Gnusletter editor since 2007 and contributed to the 8 latest issues. We are extremely grateful to Steve for taking on this important task and to White Oak for their support in producing and distributing it! We are also grateful to Pascal Mésochina, the ASG webmaster, for keeping our website updated.
The articles, reports and other information published in Gnusletter over the last 30 years represent a unique source of information on antelopes. We hope that by making this available through the online publication of the entire collection of Gnusletter will be of interest to all those concerned with the conservation and management of antelopes and contribute further to their conservation. We hope you enjoy reading it!
