UICN-Med tiene el placer de anunciarles que las Categorías y Criterios de la Lista Roja de la UICN, versión 3.1 ha sido publicada en árabe, con el apoyo de la Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID) y con el objetivo de promover la creación de listas rojas en los países de habla árabe, tanto a nivel nacional como regional. Tourism industry should better cater for climate-sensitive holiday makers
A survey of tourists and tour operators in the Egyptian Red Sea region shows that the industry often misperceives its clients’ environmental sensitivity, putting its own business at risk. Climate change is a growing threat to the tourism industry by making destinations less attractive and jeopardizing major sources of income. The awareness of tourists towards climate change and other environmental issues is likely to be a major driver of their future holiday choices.

IUCN and the Council of Europe Strengthen Cooperation
The Council of Europe will today sign a Memorandum of Co-operation (MoC) with IUCN. The MoC complements and updates a co-operation agreement between both organisations dating from 1962, and it will be signed during the European Conference “Post-2010 Biodiversity Vision and Target – The role of protected areas and ecological networks in Europe”, hosted by the Spanish Presidency of the EU and held in Madrid (Spain) on 26-27 January 2010 …

Encourager la biodiversité dans les marques, labels et certifications de productions agricoles
La biodiversité est peu valorisée dans les signes de reconnaissance agricoles, c’est-à-dire les marques, labels, AOC ou certifications attribués à des productions de vins, fromages, viandes, fruits, légumes, céréales. Pourtant plusieurs mesures favorables à la biodiversité existent, elles demandent à être encouragées. C’est le résultat d’une étude publiée aujourd’hui par le Comité français de l’UICN, en partenariat avec la Fédération des Parcs naturels régionaux de France, qui a porté sur l’analyse d’une cinquantaine de signes reconnus en France. …
