ECOLEX Steering Committee meeting

25 July 2008 | News story

The Steering Committee of ECOLEX met at the FAO Headquarters in Rome on July 21-22. Present were representatives of the three partner organisations, FAO, IUCN, and UNEP - including Stefano Burchi (FAO), Françoise Burhenne-Guilmin (IUCN) and Iwona Rummel-Bulska (UNEP).

It was the first meeting that took place after the new ECOLEX search interface had been launched this spring and opportunies for further strengthening of ECOLEX as a global hub for information in the field of environmental and natural resources law were discussed. In this context, a presentation was made by CIESIN (Center for International Earth Science Information Network, a center within the Earth Institute at Columbia University) and discussions held, in order to assess possible future cooperation. The Committee stressed the necessity for the three partner organisations now to increase the outreach of ECOLEX and seek additional financial resources.
