It’s not just people, nature has rights too

Among the many motions that have been adopted here at the IUCN Congress is one that begins a process of recognizing the Rights of Nature as a fundamental element for environmental protection.

On Tuesday, the Conservation Campus closed its doors for the last time after five days of outstanding events that provided in-depth training focused on the IUCN Programme.

A big YES to mangroves, but where and how?

Mangroves reduce wave height by as much as 66% over 100 metres of forest. A new report by The Nature Conservancy and Wetlands International says that mangrove management needs to be included in climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction efforts in coastal areas worldwide.

Coffee with a natural and feminine touch

Nespresso works with 50,000 farmers in their AAA Sustainable Quality Programme, which accounts for 200,000 hectares. Luz Marina Restrepo is one of them. This Colombian coffee farmer from Cafe Export came to the Congress to express her feelings about the programme, and language was never a barrier!

We need to be emotionally engaged to be able to act

Mattias Klum, IUCN Goodwill Ambassador talks about the need to communicate the sense of urgency when we talk about biodiversity loss and nature degradation. He talks about the future and the nature that his children should be able to explore, protect and live in harmony with.
