An ecosystem approach to management of seamounts in the Southern Indian Ocean: volume 4: a road map towards sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity in the Southern Indian Ocean

This publication presents proposals from a management workshop on conservation and management measures applicable to high seas areas in the Southern Indian Ocean regarding: (i) a biodiversity initiative; (ii) the principles, objectives and process included in the draft road map developed in support of the initiative; (iii) the concept, advantages and potential members of the alliance proposed to further develop the Initiative; and (iv) the collaborative arrangement needed to formalize the alliance, and the key elements of the adaptive and collaborative management plan that the alliance will adopt and implement.

Performances économiques des activités d’adaptation au changement climatique dans le bassin de la Volta

Cette étude présente une évaluation des performances économiques de quelques activités d’adaptation promues par l’Union internationale pour la conservation de la nature au Burkina Faso et au Ghana. L’objectif général de l’évaluation est de contribuer à l’apprentissage participatif sur les avantages économiques des initiatives d’adaptation au changement climatique. De manière spécifique, il s’agit d’identifier et d’analyser le contenu, l’ampleur et la pertinence des activités d’adaptation et d’évaluer les coûts et bénéfices générés par lesdites activités.

Proceedings of the Members Assembly: World Conservation Congress, Jeju, Republic of Korea, 6-15 September 2012

The Members Assembly allows Members to contribute to the governance issues of the Union. During the Assembly, Members heard Commission reports, approved IUCN’s programme of work for the next four years, and voted on Resolutions and Recommendations. The Proceedings provide Members with a session-by-session account of the business activities on the agenda.

Resolutions and recommendations: World Conservation Congress, Jeju, Republic of Korea, 6-15 September 2012

IUCN members adopted some 183 Resolutions and Recommendations at the Members’ Business Assembly of the 5th World Conservation Congress. They, along with the Intersessional Programme, financial plan and Commission mandates, provide the Union with a framework to be more effective in pursuing our mission.
