Beyond palm oil? Allanblackia oil supports local livelihoods and conservation in Ghana.

The oil obtained from the seeds of the Allanblackia tree has been used by local communities for some time however, the extracted seed-oil has never been used on a commercial scale. IUCN is collaborating with its members and partners on an initiative in Ghana which will feed into the best-practice guidelines for the wild picking of Allanblackia.


This image shows the courtship behavior of Indian Bull frogs (Holobatrachus tigerinus). During the monsoon, the breeding males become bright yellow in color, while females remain dull. The prominent blue vocal sacs of male produce strong nasal mating call.
