Conservation and Development: The Sustainable Use
of Wetland Resources
E. Maltby, P.J. Dugan and J.C. Lefeuvre
This book comprises the Proceedings of the Third International
Wetlands Conference in Rennes, France, 19-23 September 1988. It
is divided into four sections which deal successively with conservation
and resource use with particular emphasis on agriculture, coastal
zone conservation and management, fisheries management and the management
problems of wetland hydrology. Individual papers are short. They
were not prepared with the intention of appearing in the traditional
scientific or conservation journals, but rather with deliberate
intent to highlight new cases, assessments and examples of the needs,
problems and priorities of wetland conservation. The volume thus
provides a unique contribution to, and information base for, the
development of new policies for wetland conservation worldwide.
