The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)
The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) needs to address the role of biodiversity for both sequestering carbon and adapting to climate change. It has a mandate to address the challenges of conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in the face of climate change. The CBD Conference of the Parties in Japan in 2010 was critical in ensuring that a new strategic plan for the Convention responds to the challenges of climate change.
