Knowledge

IUCN generates and disseminates practical knowledge on the links between the sustainable management of ecosystems and human well-being.

Working with its Members, Commissions and partner organizations, IUCN’s on-the-ground learning provides valuable lessons about how to best manage natural resources for livelihood security, poverty reduction and development.

IUCN mobilizes the best available science and harnesses traditional and local knowledge in order to raise awareness and build the capacity of governments, communities, farmers, fishers and other groups to manage their resources in the most sustainable and equitable way.

The lessons and experience generated across the Union are shared through publications, practical manuals, guidelines, and other tools, as well as through workshops, dialogues and conferences.
