Asia is a land full of natural and cultural wonders. But the region, its people and its nature, face critical challenges, including poverty, water shortages and the disastrous threats posed by climate change. IUCN, together with its Members, Commissions and partners, is working to address these challenges by leading innovative initiatives in the region.
With the financial support of the United Postcode Lotteries, IUCN has launched an 18-month transboundary dolphin conservation project along the coastline of Thailand and Cambodia. This SEK 2.1 million (USD 295,000) project will build on outcomes of the Building Coastal Resilience to Climate Change in Southeast Asia (BCR) project, and aims to enhance protection of the remaining populations of four dolphin and porpoise species in their marine habitat along the Thai-Cambodian border. …

The IUCN World Heritage Panel met in December to examine the nominations submitted for possible World Heritage listing in 2015. The UNESCO World Heritage Committee will convene in June and IUCN will provide its recommendations on natural sites. …
