Drylands are not wastelands
Drylands cover over 40% of the earth’s land surface. They are home to more than 2 billion people, most of whom live in developing countries and are among the poorest in the world. The natural resources on which the majority of dryland dwellers depend are fast disappearing, making desertification one of today’s greatest environmental challenges. Climate change is likely to exacerbate these challenges. But is it all doom and gloom?
