Rivers for Life: photo competition call for entries

IUCN is pleased to announce a photo competition entitled “Rivers for Life” to showcase the diversity of the Brahmaputra/Jamuna river.

The call for entries into the competition invites amateur or professional photographers in Bangladesh and India to register and upload images captured from the Brahmaputra/Jamuna region before 20 October 2013.

Under the project ‘Ecosystems for Life: A Bangladesh-India Initiative’ the competition aims to showcase the unique aspects of the river and through it, generate awareness of the varied facets of the river. It is a reflection of the project’s effort to reach out to a wider audience.

This image shows the courtship behavior of Indian Bull frogs (Holobatrachus tigerinus). During the monsoon, the breeding males become bright yellow in color, while females remain dull. The prominent blue vocal sacs of male produce strong nasal mating call.
