Short-term plans

  • Complete programme and course mapping exercise (about 80 percent completed)
  • Make all information available (not only e-learning products) on IUCN and/or local websites
  • Indentify and recruit CEC members in institutions of higher learning and other providers of learning (e.g. NGOs) areas and countries (with specific emphasis on the recruitment of young professionals)
  • Market the first World Conservation Institute certificate programmes to potential end users

In the longer-term, this CEC Specialty Group could contribute to a set of regional-specific World Conservation Institute e-learning certificate programmes by (1) identifying regional universities which are strong on specific themes and (2) using the World Conservation Institute as a vehicle to facilitate collaboration by regional institutions of higher learning and other providers of learning in the development of e-learning. The group will also seek to secure or raise funding for national and regional workshops, and to link up with eLearning Africa.
