The Livelihoods Fund: an innovative approach to deliver benefits to Livelihoods and Nature. IUCN has been collaborating with the Danone Fund for Nature (now the Livelihoods Fund) and the Ramsar Convention since 2009. Born out of Danone's commitment to establish Evian as a carbon-neutral brand, the partnership has worked to identify wetland carbon projects, develop a CDM-approved methodology for large-scale mangrove restoration and support the launch of the Livelihoods Network, a platform for exchange of best practices in landscape restoration. …

Seamounts project

The IUCN Global and Marine Programme is coordinating a UNDP / GEF-funded mid-size project started in January 2009.The project’s objective is to apply an ecosystem-based approach to fisheries management for biologically and globally significant and commercially important areas beyond national jurisdiction in the Southern Indian Ocean, focusing on seamounts, with a long-term aim to demonstrate innovative approaches to improving conservation and management of unique biodiversity and ecological resources in the high seas. …
