2014 IUCN World Parks Congress

Parks, People Planet: Inspiring Solutions. Such was the theme of the 2014 IUCN World Parks Congress, a landmark global forum on protected areas held every 10 years. As the world’s most influential gathering of people involved in protected area management, it set the global agenda for the following decade. World Heritage was a leading theme at the 2014 Congress.
Workshop in the Arab Region
23-26 February 2015, Manama, Bahrain
Developing a global comparative analysis - a requirement when proposing a site for World Heritage status - is often a challenge that can jeopardize the success of a possible nomination. Organised by the Tabe'a Programme, this workshop aims to equip potential participants in the Arab Region with the necessary skills to avoid common pitfalls. It will be delivered in English.
2012 IUCN World Conservation Congress
The World Conservation Congress is IUCN's landmark event, where world leaders and conservationists gather to take joint decisions on the global conservation agenda. It is composed of two parts: the Forum, an open knowledge-sharing platform; and the Members' Assembly, where IUCN's 1,200 Members vote on the most pressing conservation issues.
3rd International Marine Protected Areas Congress
21-25 October 2013 - Marseille, France
IMPAC gathers major marine specialists and other stakeholders every four years to assist in the conservation and sustainable development of the oceans. In 2013, it was organized by IUCN together with the French Marine Protected Areas Agency. IUCN World Heritage Programme launched a new study analysing the marine gaps on the World Heritage List.
Asia Parks Congress
13-17 November 2013 - Sendai, Japan
Held one year before the 6th IUCN World Parks Congress in Sydney, Australia, the Asia Parks Congress served as a valuable lead-in to the Sydney gathering by providing lessons learned and ways forward. It was jointly organized by IUCN and Japan's Ministry of Environment.
10th World Wilderness Congress
4-10 October 2013 - Salamanca, Spain
IUCN experts explored the wild side of World Heritage at WILD10, for example discussing how criteria ix and x, which relate to ecosystems and threatened species, can be used for wilderness sites.
