25 March 2013 | News story
On March 18th, the ELC was invited to visit the Legal Training Centre (LTC) in Dili, Timor-Leste. Dr Marcelina Tilman, Director of the LTC, presented the work of the Centre and it was an opportunity for the ELC to offer complimentary copies of EPLP publications, and contribute in this way to the environmental law section of the LTC library.
The LTC is a technical body under the Ministry of Justice, responsible for training and research in the areas of justice and law. The LTC's mission is to promote and carry out technical-legal, linguistic and professional training of magistrates (judges and prosecutors), public defenders and other officials of justice, with a view to contributing to the good administration of justice and improving the knowledge and practice of law.
The LTC began the first training course for judges in 2004 and since then courses were broadened to other legal professions and areas of law. The LTC is now developing specific trainings on environmental law.
