IUCN CEC Newsletter January 2013
23 January 2013 | News story
Welcome to the first newsletter of the new year, featuring the IUCN CEC Annual Report 2012.
Dear CEC members,
The Commission's new Steering Committee will meet this week at IUCN Headquarters in Gland, Switzerland. We will be reflecting on the accomplishments of the past year. Highlights of 2012 are presented in the IUCN CEC Annual Report 2012, which is the centrepiece of the January newsletter.
In other news stories, read about my recent trip to China to meet with the new IUCN President, fond memories of past CEC Chair Mr. Partha Sarathy, and an assessment of education components in conservation grants in Africa. With regret, I also note that the post of CEC Focal Point held by Rod Abson has been dissolved as part of larger IUCN measures, and I would like to express appreciation to Rod for his many contributions as part of the CEC team.
Throughout 2013, I look forward to hearing from CEC members in all parts of the world and, in this regard, welcome you to submit a news story by 15 February for the next newsletter.
With best wishes for the new year,
Dr. Juliane Zeidler, CEC Chair
