While recognising that it's approval is a statement of commitment by Ramsar Contracting Parties, the Strategic Plan 2016-2024 is a responsibility of all sectors to acknowledge the benefits wetlands provide for water supply, energy production, food security, disaster risk reduction and climate resilience. Policy and action to protect wetlands should therefore be developed in a coordinated way involving ministries of agriculture, mining, health, and infrastructure. Protecting wetlands is a shared responsibility. …
