The Water Programme, Asia encourages collaborative, efficient and sustainable water resources management mechanisms to ensure that secure water for all. We work with local leadership, communities, governments and regional development partners to implement multi-stakeholder processes to promote healthy watersheds and wetlands.
Water Programme activities:
- advocate greater investments in restoring, building and managing natural infrastructure
- provide expertise and training, as well as encouraging knowledge exchange on water resources management concepts, such as environmental flows, trans-boundary water governance, climate change resilience and payment for ecosystem services
- facilitate in developing and strengthening river basin organizatons throughout Asia
- focus on nature-based solutions to conserve and protect water resources
The Water Programme 2012 portfolio includes projects in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Lao PDR, Pakistan, Thailand and Vietnam. The Programme also collaborates on Global Water Programme initiatives.
