FEBA at Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week 2026
As climate change and environmental degradation intensify humanitarian needs, the sector is undergoing a profound humanitarian reset. This moment of disruption also presents an opportunity to rethink humanitarian action so it works with nature, not against it, strengthening resilience, equity, and long-term recovery.
The FEBA Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in Humanitarian Contexts Working Group will be organising this interconnected series of sessions, which brings together humanitarian, environmental, and policy actors to reflect, reimagine, and operationalise greener, justice-based humanitarian action. Through strategic dialogue, policy discussion, and hands-on learning, the sessions explore how environmental sustainability and NbS can be meaningfully embedded across humanitarian diplomacy, coordination, and operations.
Session 1 - Reimagining the Joint Initiative for Greener Humanitarian Assistance: The Future Is Ours to Build

This session invites collective reflection on the future of the Joint Initiative for Greener Humanitarian Assistance, building on its evolution from environmental risk assessments and NEAT+, to sustainable supply chains and donor greening. Participants will explore how to safeguard progress, address digital continuity and inclusion, and broaden collaboration beyond traditional humanitarian actors—centering climate justice, localisation, and people-centred innovation. Session 2 - The Humanitarian–Nature Learning Lab

This practitioner-focused learning lab supports the shift from concepts to action. Participants will identify practical entry points to integrate NbS across the humanitarian programme cycle—assessments, programme design, procurement, risk management, MEAL, and coordination—using tools such as NEAT+ and the Sphere NbS Unpacked Guide, aligned with the IUCN Global Standard for NbS.
