Financing Resilience: Scaling Ecosystem-based Solutions for Degraded Lands through Integrated Research, Action, Finance and Policy
As climate change accelerates land degradation and intensifies droughts, floods and other extreme weather events, restoring ecosystems has become essential for building resilient communities and landscapes EbA provides practical, nature-based approaches that strengthen resilience while delivering benefits for biodiversity, livelihoods and sustainable development. However, scaling these solutions requires robust evidence, enabling policies and increased investment.
Hosted by the Global EbA Fund, this side event will bring together practitioners, researchers, policymakers, donors and development partners to explore how integrated research, innovation and financing can accelerate the implementation of ecosystem-based solutions and contribute to Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN).
The event will showcase experiences from the Global EbA Fund's growing portfolio of projects, demonstrating how locally led, gender-responsive and inclusive Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) initiatives are generating evidence, strengthening capacity and informing policy to create enabling environments for adaptation at scale. Participants will also gain insights into practical approaches for mobilising finance, strengthening partnerships and translating successful pilot projects into broader action and learn about new funding opportunities.
The event is intended for policymakers, practitioners, researchers, donors, development agencies, civil society organisations, Indigenous Peoples and local community representatives, and anyone working to advance Ecosystem-based Adaptation, land restoration and climate resilience.
It is organised by the Global EbA Fund in collaboration with its project partners, including UNEP, UNU-EHS, WOCAT, Kaschak Institute, WeCAN and Both ENDS.
About the Global EbA Fund
The Global EbA Fund is a catalytic funding mechanism that supports innovative EbA initiatives to create enabling environments for scaling nature-based solutions for climate adaptation. By investing in knowledge generation, capacity development, policy innovation and financing, the Fund helps strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities and ecosystems while contributing to global climate, biodiversity and land restoration goals. It is implemented jointly by IUCN and UNEP, and funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).
