IUCN World Protected and Conserved Areas Congress

In September 2027, the world’s protected and conserved area communities will gather in Panama to share knowledge, celebrate achievements, and build renewed commitment to safeguarding nature.

The event will unite governments, the private sector, civil society, Indigenous Peoples and local communities in coordinated action toward a shared vision: living in harmony with nature through effective, equitable and enduring area based conservation.

The Congress will take stock of progress in implementing the Global Biodiversity Framework at a critical moment before 2030, to strengthen the role of protected and conserved areas for peace, progress and prosperity in the decade that follows.
