Discover the France–IUCN Partnership Journey at the World Conservation Congress
On the occasion of the IUCN World Conservation Congress, to be held in Abu Dhabi from 9 to 15 October 2025, the France–IUCN Partnership Journey is now available online.
For the past 20 years, the France–IUCN Partnership has been supporting the implementation of concrete initiatives and ambitious policies for nature conservation. Building on France’s strong mobilisation at the previous Congress in Marseille, the Journey in Abu Dhabi showcases nearly forty flagship events and sessions reflecting the Partnership’s themes. They highlight joint achievements, field experiences, and future perspectives in line with IUCN’s 2026–2029 Programme and the 20-year Strategic Vision to be adopted at the Congress.
A thematic pathway
The Journey highlights the diversity of themes supported by the Partnership:
- Nature-based Solutions (NbS): from the launch of the new Global Standard to discussions on financing, urban planning, and sustainable agriculture;
- Ocean and High Seas: ocean governance, implementation of the BBNJ Treaty, and promotion of a regenerative blue economy;
- Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems: multi-stakeholder dialogues, land health monitoring, and rethinking agricultural policies;
- Protected Areas and the Green List: management and governance quality, links with World Heritage, and contributions to the 30x30 targets;
- Science and Public Policy: mobilising the scientific community to inform decision-making.
A space for dialogue and encounters
Each day of the Congress, this Journey offers participants the opportunity to attend dedicated sessions, engage directly with IUCN experts and partners (representatives of AFD, MEAE, MASA, OFB, FFEM, WIOMSA…), and discover France’s contributions to international biodiversity action.
