Call for Proposals – Support for the Creation of New Marine Protected Areas in West Africa
Under the WASOP – Pillar 3 project on the protection and restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems in West Africa, IUCN PACO is launching a call for proposals to support the creation of new Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in several West African countries.
The call aims to support competent national authorities in the process of creating new Marine Protected Areas in order to strengthen the conservation of marine and coastal biodiversity in West Africa.
Proposals may include the identification and documentation of candidate sites, ecological, biological, socio-economic and legal studies, stakeholder consultations, the delimitation of future MPAs, as well as the preparation of the technical, legal and administrative documentation required for their official establishment.
The call is open to national institutions with a legal mandate for the creation of Marine Protected Areas in the countries concerned.
Indicative project duration: 12 to 30 months.
