World renowned athletes and sports organisations joined forces last week with the Governments of France and Kenya to host the first Sports for Nature event in Africa.

The NbS Management Hub helps drive efforts to scale up Nature-based Solutions and supports the uptake of the IUCN Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions, its mainstreaming in national policies and strategic plans as well as in financial decision-making.  

In collaboration with the Community Welfare Foundation Minapin and Adventure Club Pakistan, IUCN Pakistan inaugurated the rock climbing site established under the Biodiversity Safeguarding Project funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). 

The number of sports organisations committed to improving their performance on biodiversity under the Sports for Nature Framework more than doubled in the first year to 48, and spans a range of sports from international federations and national associations to local clubs and large events.
