The mission of the IUCN SSC Peccary Specialist Group is to work together for the conservation of the 3 peccary species: Tayassu pecari, Pecari tajacu, and Catagonus wagneri.
Specialist Group work
We want to do a comprehensive assessment of all peccary species populations and threats and utilize the assessments to develop guidelines and conservation strategies for NGO, governments, and local communities.

PSG assesses species for the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species to inform about their status in the wild, their conservation effort and their research priorities.
