Engaging with peer networks

In addition to its Member and Commission networks with thousands of scientists and specialist experts, IUCN works in synergy with numerous other networks which have remits touching into conservation, biodiversity, and sustainability. Foremost among these are the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and the Biodiversity Technical Committee of the International Standards Organisation (ISO). IUCN maintains contact points into IPBES, ISO, and other relevant peer networks, to help maximise collaboration, complementarity, and information sharing, and reduce the risk of duplication of effort.

Intergovernmental science-policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)

IUCN and IPBES share common goals and similar priorities: undertaking authoritative assessments, generating robust knowledge inclusive of local and indigenous perspectives, supporting policy and developing capacity-building across continents, for a just world that values and conserves nature.
