Theme members are interested in a wide range of topics, including:
- assessing and valuing the benefits and costs of different approaches to natural resource management,
- the economic drivers affecting biodiversity loss,
- the impact of economic drivers, and
- trends on environmental policies and people.
Theme members aim to deepen knowledge around the use of natural capital accounting, wildlife economies, protection and provision of ecosystem services, and the use of alternative economic models, such as circular and indigenous economies.
The work of the Theme is intended to promote robust conservation strategies that dovetail with the objectives of social and environmental justice, the Sustainable Development Goals and the Post 2020 Biodiversity Framework.
