A Voice for Nature #21

The previous period was marked by the newly adopted EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 that aims to place a much higher priority on nature in EU development plans. It is an ambitious strategy paving the road towards a more sustainable and resilient society. We took part in the recently held consultations on the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, as IUCN but also supporting the contribution of the Biodiversity Task Force of South East Europe.

Since the last issue, we have published best practices of the water-energy-food nexus in the form of several case studies, and are drawing your attention to the #NatureForAll Discovery Zone, an interactive platform featuring materials to help people connect with nature. IPBES has extended the call for contributions to three new biodiversity assessments, and we are building the team to support ADAPT, an initiative that will increase ecosystem and community resilience to climate change and environmental degradation by applying Nature-based Solutions in the Western Balkans. Globally, we are gearing up for the launch of a tool that will redefine our relationship with nature - the Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions, on 23 July. Save the date and join us online!

Read about all this, and much more. We thank all the contributors to A Voice for Nature #21 and wish you to stay safe in these challenging and dynamic times.
