IUCN Library
The collection and dissemination of information about nature conservation has been at the heart of IUCN since its founding in 1948, with the collections of the IUCN Library predating IUCN itself. The Library plays an important role in preserving the institutional memory of IUCN and in ensuring the scientific integrity in IUCN's work.

History of the IUCN Library
From its founding in 1948, one of IUCN’s original objectives was to “collect, analyse, interpret and disseminate information about the ‘Protection of Nature”’.
Open Access at IUCN
IUCN is uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between the open access movement and the conservation community, as part and parcel of its historic efforts to facilitate access to knowledge on nature conservation.
