About the IUCN Library at Headquarters
The IUCN Library is a unique repository of the publications, periodicals, unpublished reports and multimedia produced by IUCN, including its regional and country offices, its National and Regional Committees, and its Commissions, from 1946 to the present.
Its primary goal is to preserve the institutional memory of IUCN and make available the knowledge produced by IUCN. The collection also contains a select number of publications from IUCN Members and other related organizations, as well as the historical collection of the Office international pour la protection de la nature (1928-1955); it also inherited the collection of WWF (1960-1991).
The IUCN Library’s secondary goal is provide research support; towards this end, it holds over 16,000 non-IUCN titles (including journals and newsletters) on the conservation of nature and related issues.
Visiting the IUCN Library
The IUCN Library is open to visitors. IUCN Secretariat staff, Commission members, individuals from Member organizations, and any students, researchers, or practitioners interested in environmental issues are welcome to visit the HQ Library. Please make a note of our library policies and get in touch to arrange your visit in advance.
The IUCN Library is located in the IUCN Conservation Centre, Rue Mauverney 28, 1196 Gland, Switzerland.
The IUCN Library will be closed from 13-27 March 2024.
