The Mediterranean region is the world’s second-largest biodiversity hotspot - and one of the most vulnerable to climate change. With temperatures rising 20% faster than the global average, human pressures on ecosystems and natural resources are accelerating. Yet, the Mediterranean also shines as a model of cross-border cooperation, enriched by diverse cultures and voices working together for a sustainable future.

We promote Nature-based Solutions, as an unprecedented opportunity to increase the resilience of Mediterranean societies and nature.
IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation works jointly with 268 Members and strategic allies in the region, to build together a fair world that values and conserves nature through the implementation of projects related to biodiversity conservation. In the Mediterranean region, Members are structured in 8 National Committees and 1 Regional Committee for North Africa.
The Members are also shaping our regional direction and work plan. Strengthening and enlarging our membership and knowledge base remains one of our priorities in the region.
