Women at the Centre of Solutions for Climate Change
Climate change impacts us all, but its effects are often felt more acutely by women. From farming to fishing, women play important roles in resource management throughout the Pacific Islands. They are crucial for climate change adaptation because of their ties to the land and the water.

At the Kiwa Initiative, we understand that effective climate action depends on women's empowerment. Our strategy includes deploying Nature-based Solutions (NbS) throughout the Pacific Island nations, which tackles gender inequality in addition to environmental challenges.
When their surroundings change, women are often the first to realise it. They become the foundation for both community health and food security. Women's perspectives result in more workable and sustainable solutions when they engage fully in climate adaptation initiatives. Communities become stronger and more resilient when women are supported.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Kiwa Initiative collaborate to advance gender equality in environmental projects. This collaborative works seek to elevate the voices of women and guarantee their access to the resources and instruments required for climate adaptation.
IUCN Oceania is in charge of a number of projects aimed at empowering women. These programmes inspire women to take the lead in climate change in their communities by offering them support, resources, and training. We promote local leadership and stimulate creativity by giving them the information and abilities they need.
Supporting women in their leadership and innovation positions is a must as we address the issues brought on by climate change. This goal is the focus of the Kiwa Initiative, which makes sure that women are at the cutting edge of developing sustainable solutions in the Pacific. We are laying the foundation for a time when everyone can prosper while coexisting peacefully with the environment by working with IUCN.
Our mission is perfectly aligned with this year's International Women's Day theme, "Accelerate Action." Women are key to climate resilience; therefore, we must move swiftly to empower them. We would want to congratulate all the diligent females who work with nature in our local projects. Your work is valuable in protecting women's rights and taking the lead in developing long-term solutions. Building a future where everyone can prosper while preserving the environment is our shared goal with IUCN. Let's continue to advance women's rights and sustainability for all.
