This 10th session of the IPBES Plenary will be focused on the adoption of the IPBES Thematic Assessment of Invasive Alien Species.

This assessment is particularly important to IUCN, given IUCN’s long-standing engagement in invasive alien species issues, in particular through the IUCN SSC Invasive Species Specialist Group. IUCN maintains the global Environmental Impact Classification for Alien Taxa (EICAT) standard for measuring invasive species impacts, as well as the Global Invasive Species Database, the Global Register of Introduced and Invasive Species, as well as the Sustainable Development Goal Indicator 15.8.1 on invasive species policy response.
