Highlights of IPBES-9
The 9th session of the IPBES Plenary was convened from 3 to 10 July 2022 in Bonn, Germany. The session was for the first time in a hybrid format (in person and virtual). It was preceded by the IPBES Stakeholder Days and by regional consultations on 2 July 2022.
The 9th session of IPBES Plenary focused on the adoption of two assessments: the Sustainable used of wild species assessment and the diverse values and valuation of nature assessment, decided during the 6th session of IPBES Plenary. The Plenary also considered for approval the scoping report for a methodological assessment of the impact and dependence of business on biodiversity and nature’s contributions to people, as well as interim work plans of IPBES task forces for the intersessional period 2022–2023. IUCN has also been well engaged in the activities of the Open-Ended Network of IPBES Stakeholders (ONet) for preparing ONet’s opening statement in the opening session of IPBES 9th Plenary.
