SOS: A Powerful Tool for governments

Learn more about SOS – Save Our Species at a celebration on resource mobilisation with colleagues also from the CBD, CEPF and LifeWeb at the Rio Convention Pavilion Wednesday, 15 October 2014, 18:30– 20:00.

SOS is a credible mechanism that helps governments and organisations work toward achieving several of the Aichi Targets including Target 12. In three years of supporting frontline conservation, it has achieved so much. Please download the SOS Report: Three years of life and action on the right of this page to learn more.

Meanwhile, you can hear directly from some of our grantees in Bangladesh speaking about the impact of the SOS funding model on their conservation projects to date in this short film:

In tandem with the launch of the SOS Report: Three Years of Life and Action, SOS will be participating at the Convention on Biological Diversity's 12th Conference of the Parties in Korea this month.

According to Dr. Naoko Ishii of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), an SOS founding partner, "the Save Our Species programme provides vital resources to civil society organisations working on the front lines to protect species threatened with extinction in the developing world. Grassroots efforts to conserve species also help sustain ecosystems and the services they provide to society. We call on others to join us and contribute to ensuring ecosystem diversity and integrity in some of the world's most critical sites for biodiversity conservation".

In short, the time is now to support SOS - Save Our Species and to help us grow so that we can continue supporting frontline conservation, protecting threatened species, their habitats and the communities who depend on them.
