Our Work

Our work is guided by the priorities of our Members, which are defined and updated by motions they have endorsed that have become actionable once adopted as Resolutions at each World Conservation Congress. We seek opportunities to add value to the efforts of Members.

We pursue initiatives and projects within the region that help leverage our unique convening power, utilize IUCN tools and knowledge products, and build upon ongoing Member and partner work. The Washington D.C. office hosts over 45 IUCN Secretariat staff working within global centers, who lead work around the world across portfolios such as economics and natural capital, protected and conserved areas, marine conservation, and more.

The North America Regional Office has built strong relationships with U.S. funders – including government agencies, charitable foundations, and philanthropists – to support the work of IUCN and its partners and Members worldwide. Through IUCN US Fund, we build bridges between US philanthropy and IUCN's global portfolio of work.
