ADAPT 2.0, a continuation of the collaborative effort between Sida and IUCN, aims to strengthen ecosystem and community resilience against climate change and environmental degradation in the Western Balkans. Building on the achievements of ADAPT phase 1, which improved awareness and capacities concerning Nature-based Solutions (NbS), the project now seeks to enhance regional cooperation and integrate NbS more effectively into environmental policies and practices. This phase will focus on addressing the challenges posed by climate change and biodiversity loss, aligning with EU accession goals and increasing societal resilience. It will leverage successes from NbS in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation to inform policy, support sustainable management, create opportunities for deployment of NbS in the long-term and promote resilience in humanitarian settings, ensuring environmental sustainability remains central to addressing humanitarian and developmental challenges in the region.
