As part of his mandate, Professor Boyd is currently preparing his report on biodiversity and human rights by examining the substantive components of the right to a healthy environment relating to healthy ecosystems and biodiversity. The report will be the successor report to the 2017 report of the previous Special Rapporteur (Prof. John Knox).

To help prepare the forthcoming report, and as a means of incorporating diverse input from all relevant stakeholders in an economic and environment-friendly manner, Professor Boyd is organising a series of online consultations at the following dates and times:

  • 6 April at 09:00 Pacific Standard Time
  • 6 April at 13:00 Pacific Standard Time
  • 7 April at 17:00 Pacific Standard Time
  • 7 April at 21:00 Pacific Standard Time

Please contact srenvironment@ohchr.org to sign up for one of the consultations, and to obtain further information in advance of the consultations.

This 2020 report is part of a series of reports on the substantive elements of the right to a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment, which has already featured clean air and a safe climate. The final report will be presented to the UN General Assembly in September/October and used to help influence the UN negotiations on the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.  For more information, please see here.
