The Red List of all of Finland’s terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems was first published in Finnish in December 2018. The methodology applied in Finland – the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems Categories and Criteria – is new, but gradually becoming the common standard for assessing the threat status of ecosystems and habitats.

To pave the way for the further expansion of RLEs, Finland now provides a set of assessment examples in addition to the RLE results. Sharing concrete assessment examples in English enhances the harmonization of RLEs across the countries.

The publication “Threatened Habitat Types in Finland 2018 - Red List of Habitats Results and Basis for Assessment” in English available for download here.
