IUCN announces Ha Long cleanup day

IUCN Viet Nam and Au Co Cruise this week finished assembling a group of volunteers for an important cleanup event scheduled for Ha Long Bay on the 14th of June. IUCN called for volunteers on the union’s website and social media channels, resulting in almost 450 applicants from around the country.

From these enthusiastic environmentalists, 40 have made the final selectionThese keen individuals come from various backgrounds including from local and international businesses, NGOs, schools and media.

IUCN unfortunately only had limited space for this particular event, and could not accommodate all applicants on the cleanup boats.

In the near future, IUCN will call for more support and volunteers from businesses and communities to allow for organising broader coastal clean-up events on a more regular basis.

Organisers hope that all who were interested in this event will continue to follow our programme and apply again in the future.  Together with our Vietnamese and international partners, we are ready to join the fight for a cleaner ocean. #HaLongCleanup.
