This Specialist Group (MPSG) was formed in 1995 as the Mediterranean Islands Plant Specialist Group and currently includes some thirty members.

More about the Specialist Group
The Mediterranean Plant Specialist Group (MPSG) has as its objectives evaluate and monitor changes in Mediterranean island plant diversity; to establish, co-ordinate and implement conservation Action Plans; and to promote sustainable conservation of plants and their habitats among decision-makers and the public. The work of the MPSG is part of IUCN’s activities in the Mediterranean.
Specialist Group work
Aims to Implementation of field conservation projects for Critically Endangered Mediterranean plants with authorities and local populations, raising the plant conservation profile in the Mediterranean and raising awareness of the public and stakeholders at regional, national and local levels.
MPSG on the IUCN Red List
To inform conservation efforts, MPSG assesses species for the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
