As the name implies, the mission of the IUCN SSC South Asian Invertebrate Specialist Group is to encourage and assist invertebrate specialists in South Asia and make them an appreciation and conservation region for invertebrates on a species, genetic, and habitat level.

The priority is to document information for species that require attention and to prioritise some important invertebrate groups that require conservation action. We are committed to educating and promoting the conservation of freshwater biodiversity in the Western Ghats.
